Formats and host compatibility
Choroboros releases for macOS first, with VST3, AU, AAX, and a standalone app. This is a format list, not a blanket promise that every DAW/version is already a public supported host. Named supported-host claims require release-candidate smoke evidence and explicit approval.
VST3
Use in macOS hosts that scan VST3 plugins. Host behavior still depends on the DAW and version.
Audio Unit
Use in macOS hosts that scan AU plugins. Logic users should install AU, not VST3.
AAX
Pro Tools uses AAX. Public Pro Tools support requires final AAX release smoke evidence.
Standalone
Runs outside a DAW for quick checks, sound design, and troubleshooting.
macOS Logic users: after downloads open, install AU, not VST3 — Logic prefers native AU.
Plugin doesn't show up in my DAW
macOS
- When downloads open on August 1, use the current macOS installer from /download.
- Restart your DAW and run a plugin rescan.
- If you upgraded from an older build, remove stale copies from
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/and/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/before rescanning.
Windows
Windows format support will be documented when the Windows build is available.
Linux
Linux format support will be documented when the Linux build is available.
AU validation fails in Logic
If Logic marks Choroboros as failed AU validation:
sudo killall -9 AudioComponentRegistrarThen relaunch Logic. After downloads open, if it fails again, reinstall from the current macOS package and remove any older manual copies first.
